Specialist physiotherapy for bladder symptoms
Bladder symptoms are one of the most common reasons women come to see us, yet they are still rarely talked about openly. Leaking when you cough, sneeze, laugh or exercise. A sudden urge to get to the toilet that arrives without warning. Needing to go more often than feels normal, or waking several times through the night. Many of the women we see have been quietly adapting their lives around these symptoms for months or even years.
The good news is that effective treatment is available. Pelvic Health Physiotherapy is recommended by NICE as a first-line treatment for many bladder symptoms, and most women see meaningful improvement with the right assessment and rehabilitation. Every member of our Pelvic Health team holds postgraduate qualifications in Women’s and Pelvic Health, and supporting women with bladder symptoms is a core part of what we do every day.

Assessment that gets to the cause
Bladder symptoms are rarely caused by one thing alone. Pelvic floor function is often part of the picture but factors such as bladder habits, bowel health, hormones, breathing patterns and previous pregnancies can all play an important role in our care.
Your first appointment is designed to build a clear understanding of what may be contributing to your symptoms. We explore your pelvic floor function, bladder and bowel habits, fluid intake, hormonal influences and wider medical history. Where helpful, we use advanced assessment tools to gain a more objective understanding of how your pelvic floor is functioning and to guide treatment more precisely.
How we treat bladder conditions
Treatment is tailored to the factors driving your symptoms and the goals that matter most to you. This may include pelvic floor rehabilitation, bladder retraining, urgency suppression techniques, fluid and lifestyle guidance, hands-on treatment, neuro-modulation treatment (eg TTNS) and technology-assisted rehabilitation where appropriate.
For women preparing for or recovering from gynaecological or urological surgery, we also provide specialist pre and post-operative rehabilitation, working closely with your consultant.
Real, lasting improvement is possible
Too many women are told that bladder symptoms are simply part of having children, getting older or going through menopause. In reality, many bladder problems respond extremely well to specialist physiotherapy.
With the right diagnosis and treatment plan, significant improvement is often achievable, and many women regain the confidence and freedom they thought they had lost.
We work closely with urogynaecologists, urologists, gynaecologists and GPs across Wimbledon, Esher and the surrounding areas, ensuring seamless care whenever additional investigations or medical input are needed.
