Your lower back is involved in almost all activities of daily life. Suffering an injury in this area can be significantly debilitating. Lower back pain is a common condition that affects millions of people around the world. It can range from a dull, constant ache to a sudden, sharp pain that restricts movement and daily activities. Our clinicians have a wealth of experience rehabilitating lower back pain.
Some of the common causes of lower back pain are:
- Muscle strains: Often the most common cause of lower back pain and, while painful, are often not indicative of significant damage. These will often recover rapidly from physiotherapy
- Movement pattern disorders: Sometimes we can develop patterns of movement which don’t help our back or back pain. These can be protective or maladaptive. For example, if you get back pain every time you rise from a chair it could be because you are extending your back too much as you do it. Making some simple changes can have profound effects.
- Osteoarthritis: Lower back osteoarthritis is a degenerative condition where the cartilage in the spinal joints wears down over time, causing pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.
- Degenerative disc disease: condition where the intervertebral discs in the spine lose hydration and elasticity, leading to pain and reduced mobility.
- Spinal stenosis: This is a conditional where the spaces within your spine narrow due to age-related change, herniated discs or thickened ligaments, putting pressure on your spinal cord and nerves. It often associated with a tingling or numbness alongside muscle weakness into the legs.

What our patients say
I saw Amy for physio after shoulder surgery, and she was amazing! Amy tailored each session and genuinely cared throughout my recovery. The clinic itself was excellent. It was really comfortable, well-equipped, and welcoming.

This place is excellent! I’ve been doing post natal rehab and return to strength here for last 4 months and it’s just a fantastic place. Candice who trains the mum and baby restore classes is excellent!
